Uncle Pedro, a band you may recall if you rummage around the backs of the cushions of your mental sofa, return from a period of unenforced slumber (read laziness) to perform in the inaugural Shepherd’s Bush Oxjam Takeover event on Saturday 29th October.

Oxjam are a series of UK-wide events happening throughout October organised by local volunteers to raise money for Oxfam. Shepherd’s Bush’s own Oxjam Takeover is a one-day festival taking over several of W12′s finest performance spaces with over 40 bands and DJ’s doing their thing with all proceeds going to Oxfam. Early bird tickets are currently £10, with tickets on the day at £12. Also available is a group discount, should you buy 5 tickets at the same time you can go to the ball for £8 each.

You will find us slaying faces at The Goldhawk (122 Goldhawk Road, W12 8HH) at around 9pm. Should you wish to recover from that then we strongly recommend popping down to Vesbar afterwards to see our good friends Roscoe Tanner (featuring Vince on “quiet” setting). Dan’ll be heckling him from up front should you wish to join him.

I took some photos of the other bands, but none of us on stage (I was, er, busy…).

Big thanks to Rachel+Andy at Silver Rocket, and Neil for the sound. I wish I lived in London and could come to this regularly.

Big thanks to the rocketfolks for putting us on, and our dedicated crew for showing up. We distributed a load of CD’s (giveaways… thanks to Radiohead for devaluing EVERYTHING last week!*) and received some great feedback. Its really cool to play at a night where the audience are there because of the reputation of the promoters alone. I really enjoyed YouMeTheSwitch (I’m a sucker for instrumental bands despite my shouty nature).

There was a little bit of nakedness, and a lot of masculinity on display during our show. Dan and both wore our lumberjack shirts, of course Vince removed his (although it took him longer than usual….). There might be a trickle of video to follow.

So there’s no current gig plans, but I’m trying to arrange a Brighton gig at the moment as we’ve heard the Freebutt is open again. Yes to sea air, no to having no product to give away any more!!
